How learning works
Choose a module, learn at your own pace and earn a certificate of completion in your account.
Register or sign in
Register using the name you want on your certificate of completion. Return to the same account whenever you continue learning.
Choose a learning module
Search the library or filter by subject. Use Bookmark to save a lecture for later; find your saved lectures in My Learning.
Watch or read
For video modules, watch at least 90% of the video inside its academy lecture page, with the tab visible. Playback speeds up to 2× count; skipped portions do not. Reading-only modules have no video requirement.
Complete each section
Read the sections in order and select Mark section as read after each one. Video watching and reading-section progress are tracked separately.
Pass the knowledge check
After completing all sections and the video requirement where applicable, answer the questions. Score at least 80%. If you do not pass, review the material and try again.
View and save your certificate
Once you meet the requirements, open your certificate from Certificates or My Learning. Use your browser’s Print menu to print it or save it as a PDF.
What does the certificate mean?
Your certificate records completion of the module and its knowledge check. It does not confer a degree, professional qualification or academic accreditation, and it does not represent a pass in an external examination such as an Ophthalmology Foundation examination.
Common questions
Can I pause and return later?
Yes. Reading and video progress are saved to your account. Open My Learning to continue, and check the saved video percentage when returning to a lecture.
Why can’t I earn a certificate yet?
Check that every section is marked as read, video completion is at least 90% where applicable, and your knowledge-check score is at least 80%. The current playback position is not necessarily the percentage counted as watched. Playing the video outside the academy does not save progress.
What if video progress is missing?
Check that you are signed in and watching within the lecture page with the tab visible. If the indicator is missing or does not update, contact the Foundation with the lecture title and browser. YouTube-based modules currently require a directly hosted video for progress tracking and new certificates.
Where are my bookmarks and certificates?
Open My Learning for ongoing, completed and bookmarked lectures. Open Certificates to view certificates you have earned.
